Frequently Asked Questions

We know starting mediation can feel unfamiliar. Here are some of the questions clients often ask before scheduling a session.

Mediation is a confidential, voluntary process where a neutral mediator helps parties discuss issues, explore options, and reach a mutually acceptable agreement without going to court.

Most sessions last about 2–3 hours. Some matters can be resolved in a single session, while others may require multiple meetings depending on complexity.

Alan focuses on workplace, business, civil, and community mediation. This includes contract disagreements, partnership issues, workplace conflicts, HOA and property disputes, and other non-criminal matters.

Mediation itself is not a court ruling, but if both parties reach an agreement, it can be written into a legally binding contract or submitted to court for approval.

Fees depend on the type and length of the mediation. Introductory consultations are often free, while sessions are billed at an hourly or flat rate. You’ll always know the cost upfront before committing.
